About Grit Guide / Our Story & Mission
Why we built this

Nobody handed me a guide for this industry. So I’m building the one I wish I had.

Shaped by the people who actually live this industry. Powered by AI so the answer is one search away.
Read it, watch it, listen, or search the thing you need.
One place. The moment you need it.

What this is

The building industry never had a home base. Not an unbiased one.
Not one shaped by the experts who actually know the work.
Not one powered by AI so you can search it and find what you need.Grit Guide is the
home of the building industry.
The one it never had, but always wanted.

Grit Guide by Grit Blueprint

Weekly.

New work every week. No off weeks.

Reader first.

The standard never bends for a sponsor.

Free.

Free to read. Free to watch. Free to share.

Named.

Real bylines. Real experts. Real opinions.

The short version.

  • Grit Guide is the home of the building industry, the one it never had but always wanted.
  • Shaped by the people who actually live this industry, powered by AI so the answer is one search away.
  • Read it, watch it, listen, or search the thing you need. One place. The moment you need it.
  • We teach both halves: the work, and how to be known for it. You need both to win.
  • Visibility gets you chosen. Ability keeps you chosen. Brand is the only moat left.
  • Free. Weekly. For the people doing the work now and the next generation coming up.
  • The goal is simple. Get good. Get known. Win.

You should not have to learn it alone.

Coming up in this industry, there was no one place to learn the work. The product knowledge. The numbers and the business. The sales. The systems. The operations.

You asked around. The rep only knew their own brand. You hoped whoever you asked had the right answer, because if they didn’t, the wrong answer became yours. Half wouldn’t admit they didn’t know. Plenty had been doing it wrong for years and had no idea.

So mostly you figured it out alone, the hard way, after it cost you. And mostly, you still are. Whether you’re 30 days in or 30 years in, there are things you hit every week and don’t know where to turn for the answer.

The work and the products never stop changing. The industry keeps innovating. So you never stop learning.

Sound familiar?
I’ve been there.
The work itself
Getting the sizing wrong on a special order door.
Selling doors before I understood every part. Sizing, slabs, peep sights, the details that cost customers thousands when wrong.
Losing the deal to someone cheaper who won’t deliver it right.
Quoting a job, watching it get shopped, learning the expensive way that price wasn’t the play.
A long-time customer you can feel slipping away and you don’t know why.
Watching long-time customers drift toward competitors with louder brands. Realizing relationships alone weren’t enough.
There was no easy-to-find guide for the building industry.Until now.

If any of those hit home,You’re in the right place.

Who is building it for you.

Stefanie Couch · Founder, Grit Blueprint

Built by someone who has stood at the counter, on the yard, in the boardroom, and signed the front of a paycheck.

Stefanie Couch has over three decades in the building industry. Her career runs through lumberyards, millwork distribution, and Fortune 500 door manufacturing. She has stood at the counter on Saturdays, run plants, sold doors, and led teams through every kind of week the channel can throw at you.

She is the translator between old world success and new world reality, because she had to translate it for herself first. Every single time.

“This is not built to impress the industry.
It is built to be useful to the people in it.

For the last four years, she has run Grit Blueprint with her husband Ben and a team of operators, editors, and producers. The company has served 35+ of the most respected companies and associations in the building industry. Stefanie has spoken on hundreds of national stages, including IBS, NAWLA, GlassBuild, and the National Hardware Show.

  • 3rd

Generation in the building industry. Born into it.

  • 30+

Years in lumberyards, millwork, and door manufacturing.

The company behind it

Grit Blueprint is the visibility, media, and growth partner for the building industry.

We help the best people, brands, and businesses in this industry become the unmistakable first choice in their market.

We build the strategy, stories, websites, authority programs, and AI-search systems that help them get seen, trusted, and chosen.

Grit Guide is powered by that same standard.

Our work is built on truth, trust, and editorial integrity. Sponsors may support the platform, but they do not control the story.

The standard never bends.

We teach the work.

This is where you learn what the industry never stopped to explain.
Real questions. Real answers. Nothing dressed up.

Get good. The work

Product Knowledge
Windows, doors, millwork, lumber, hardware, building materials. The technical details, the nuances, the component knowledge that separates someone who sells doors from someone who actually knows them. So a wrong sizing or detail never costs your customer thousands again.
Sales
Learn to actually close, not just stay busy. Hold your margin without losing the customer. Win on value, not price. So the cheapest bid stops being your only competition.
Numbers
Margins, cash flow, GPM, EBITDA. The numbers that decide if the business is healthy and the ones a buyer or a bank actually reads. So you know your business before someone else tries to value it for you.
Customer Service
How to keep the customer about to leave for someone cheaper. How to turn a complaint into a longer relationship. So the customer who took three years to win doesn’t walk in one bad week.
Operations
Cleaner process, less wasted motion, fewer broken handoffs. The operational moves nobody trained you on, that quietly save the week. So the business runs you less and you run it more.
The Channel
How dealers, distributors, manufacturers, and contractors actually work together, and against each other. Where the leverage really sits. So you stop being surprised by a shift you should have seen coming.
Leadership
How to lead a team that’s watching every move you make. Hard conversations. Hiring well. Letting go when you have to. So your culture stops being whatever happens by accident.
Marketing
How to market without sounding like everyone else. Positioning, messaging, the story your buyer actually remembers. So your name stays in the consideration set long after the trade show.
Visibility
How to be found by the buyer already searching for what you do. AI search, Google, social, trade press. So the next time someone Googles your category, your name is in the answer.
AI & Tech
AI, ERPs, CRMs, CPQs, configurators, quoting and ordering systems. Knowing what’s actually worth adopting and how to use it before your competition does. So tech stops feeling like a threat and starts being your edge.
Authority Building
Becoming the name people quote, recommend, and bring up first. Building the trust and influence that makes the room hush when you start to talk. So your authority is something you have, not something you have to ask for.
Career
Career growth. Family business. Succession. When to leave, when to stay, when to push for the raise. So you stop letting the org chart decide what your next ten years look like.
Entrepreneurship
Starting your own thing. Building, scaling, betting on yourself. Knowing when to walk and when to dig in. So the decision to bet on yourself doesn’t have to be a guess in the dark.

Get known. Being known for it

Learning the work is one problem. Being known for it is a different one. Most people only ever solve the first. We teach you both, so the right people choose you before they ever meet you.

Be Unmistakable
Showing up where the people who can choose you are already looking. The customer. The boss. The board. The partner. The acquirer. Showing up so consistently, in so many places, and so well, that the consideration set stops at your name. So you stop being the best-kept secret and start being the unmistakable first choice.
The Room
How to walk into the meeting like you belong in it, before anyone in there has heard of you. So you stop feeling like you have to earn the air in the room.
Presence
What you wear, how you carry yourself, the energy you bring before you say a word. So they take you seriously before the meeting even starts.
Stage
How to step on a stage and own the room. Keynotes, panels, conference floors, with or without a script. So the stage stops being something you survive and starts being where your audience finds you.
Voice
Finding the point of view only you can give. Saying what nobody else in this industry will say. So you stop sounding like every other LinkedIn profile in your category.
Story
How to tell your story so the right people remember you, choose you, and call you first. So your background works for you instead of getting buried in a bio.
Writing
LinkedIn, articles, posts, newsletters. How to publish work that compounds into authority instead of disappearing in a feed.
Camera
Video. YouTube. Reels. Podcasts. How to say it on camera and actually look like you mean it. So buyers feel they know you before they ever shake your hand.
Network
Building the relationships that compound. Real connections, not stacks of business cards. So the next time you need a name, a vendor, or a referral, the call is already warm.

Get good at the work. Get known for it.You need both to win.

Built for the people doing the work.

The current generation

Already in it. Still hungry.

The operator who is already good and knows it is not enough. Decades in, the product still changes, the channel still shifts, and they still want to learn it first.

The dealer, the manufacturer, the rep, the executive, the founder. Anyone running the work and ready for what comes next.

The ambitious next generation

The one who runs this in ten years.

Hungry for it now. They get the head start nobody handed the people who came before them.

Sales reps. Yard managers. Next-gen family business leaders. New hires. Future operators learning the channel.

This industry runs on people. On purpose.
Out loud. Now.We are here to make them better.

This window won’t stay open forever.

AI is changing how buyers decide. Consolidation is changing who owns what. A generational handoff is changing who runs everything. None of it is slowing down.

The people who are sharp and knownwin the next decade.

The ones who stay quiet and unprepared get overlooked, rolled up, or forgotten.

Indifference is the enemy. You are not being rejected. You are being overlooked.

Stefanie Couch outside a North Georgia lake home, building industry leader
The work doesn’t slow down.

Brand is the only moat left.

Buyers don’t ask around anymore.
They Google. They ask AI.
They watch one video and decide. The ones who come up first are the ones the market already knows.

Price gets matched. Distribution gets copied. Product gets commoditized. The buyer picks the name that feels most visible, most trustworthy, and least risky. That is the only moat left.

Being the best-kept secret is not a compliment. It is a death sentence.

How you become that name

  1. 01

    Be Seen.

The market knows you exist. You show up where buyers are already looking.

  2. 02

    Be Known.

It knows you’re good at the work. Your name is tied to the thing you do.

  3. 03

    Be Chosen.

It picks you first, not last. The search returns your name. The buyer calls you.

  4. 04

    Become Unmistakable.

It can not picture this industry without you. The category gets named after the work you do.

The market picks one name first.Make sure it’s yours.

About Grit Guide

What is Grit Guide? +
Grit Guide is the home of the building industry. A free media and intelligence platform built to teach the work this industry runs on and to help the people in it become the unmistakable first choice in their market.

It is articles, podcasts and videos, interviews, product education, leadership content, expert features, company stories, and field reporting, all in one place. Read it. Watch it. Listen to it. Search it. Powered by AI so the answer you need is one search away.

It is shaped by the people who actually live this industry. Manufacturers, dealers, distributors, builders, remodelers, sales leaders, executives, product experts, marketers, operators, and next-generation leaders. Editorial integrity is the standard, and the standard never bends for a sponsor.

Grit Guide is not a trade publication. Not a press release factory. Not a directory. Not a closed club. It is the trusted place to learn the work, find the people worth listening to, see the companies and products shaping what comes next, and prepare for the shifts already changing how this industry operates.

Founded by Stefanie Couch. Created and run by Grit Blueprint.
Why does Grit Guide exist? +
Grit Guide exists because the building industry needs one trusted place to learn, search, watch, listen, and understand the people, products, companies, ideas, and changes shaping the future of the industry. It was built to help manufacturers, dealers, distributors, builders, remodelers, sales teams, executives, experts, and next-generation leaders find real answers and make better decisions.

The building industry is full of knowledge, but too much of it is scattered. Some of it lives in people’s heads. Some of it lives in old catalogs. Some of it lives in sales meetings. Some of it lives at trade shows. Some of it lives in training sessions that never get recorded. Some of it gets passed down through whoever happens to be standing nearby.

That worked for a long time. But the industry is changing too fast for scattered knowledge to be enough.

Products are changing. Customers are changing. Sales expectations are changing. AI and search are changing how people find answers. The next generation is entering the industry and needs a better way to learn. Experienced leaders are carrying knowledge that needs to be captured before it disappears.

Grit Guide exists to bring that knowledge into one place. A place for expert insight. A place for product education. A place for company stories. A place for leadership lessons. A place for interviews, video, podcasts, and practical resources. A place powered by AI so people can search for what they need when they need it.

Grit Guide is not just a publication. It is not just a directory. It is not just a content site. It is a home base for the building industry. A place to learn the work, find trusted experts, discover strong companies, understand what is changing, and prepare for what comes next.

Because whether you are 30 days in or 30 years in, this industry will keep handing you new questions. Grit Guide helps you find better answers.
What problems does Grit Guide solve? +
Grit Guide solves the problems that have always been hard about working in the building industry, plus the new ones nobody hands you a playbook for yet.

The old problem: no one place to learn the work.

Coming up in this industry, there has never been a single trusted place to learn product knowledge, numbers, sales, customer service, operations, the channel, leadership, marketing, or anything else this work actually demands. Most people ask around. A rep knows their own brand. A coworker repeats what they were told. A veteran offers experience but not always the current answer. When the answer is wrong, the wrong answer becomes your problem. The bad quote. The wrong order. The missed margin. The jobsite issue. The cost shows up in time, money, and trust.

The newer problem: being good and still invisible.

Most operators eventually solve the first wall. They learn the work. They become genuinely good at what they do. Then they hit the second wall: nobody outside their immediate circle knows it. Buyers can’t find them when they search. Customers pick a louder competitor. Long-time relationships drift toward someone with more visibility. The work is good, but the work alone is no longer enough.

The shift behind it: how buyers decide now.

Buyers don’t ask around the way they used to. They Google. They search AI. They watch one video and decide. Price gets matched. Distribution gets copied. Product gets commoditized. What’s left is the name the buyer remembers, the one that feels most visible, most trustworthy, and least risky. Brand is the only moat that doesn’t get matched. Being the best-kept secret stopped being a compliment a long time ago.

The specific pains Grit Guide is built to solve:

The technical pain of getting a special-order door, window, or millwork detail wrong, and watching it cost your customer thousands. The pricing pain of losing a deal to someone cheaper who can’t actually deliver it right. The growth pain of getting a promotion or project you were not ready for and having no idea what to do. The relationship pain of feeling a long-time customer drifting and not knowing why. The career pain of not knowing when to leave, when to push for the raise, when to make the move. The room pain of sitting in a meeting where everyone else has the answer and you don’t. The visibility pain of knowing you’re better than the competitor, but they keep getting chosen because you’re invisible. The AI pain of knowing the industry is changing, being scared to start, and watching five years go by while the people who started early pass you. The identity pain of having a big dream that doesn’t look like anyone else’s path, and not knowing how to turn what makes you different into what makes you win.

How it solves them.

Grit Guide brings the answers into one place, written and produced by the people who actually live the work. Operators, dealers, distributors, manufacturers, builders, sales leaders, founders, and executives. Articles, podcasts, videos, expert interviews, product education, leadership content, and field reporting. Powered by AI so you can read, watch, listen, or search the one thing you need, the moment you need it.

You can learn the work and you can learn how to be known for it. We teach both, because visibility gets you chosen, ability keeps you chosen, and you need both to win.

Whether you are 30 days in or 30 years in, there are obstacles, problems, and opportunities that come up every week with no clear place to turn for the answer. Grit Guide is where you turn.
Who is Grit Guide for? +
Grit Guide is for the people and companies building, supplying, selling, leading, and shaping the building industry. It is built for manufacturers, dealers, distributors, builders, remodelers, sales teams, operators, owners, executives, product experts, marketers, next-generation leaders, and anyone who wants to understand the industry better and lead it forward.

It is for the person who is new to the industry and needs a better way to learn. It is for the sales rep who wants stronger product knowledge, better questions, and more confidence in front of customers. It is for the dealer or distributor trying to train a team, support customers, protect margin, and grow the business. It is for the manufacturer trying to earn trust, support the channel, educate the market, and help customers choose the right products. It is for the builder or remodeler who wants to understand better products, stronger partners, smarter processes, and what is changing in the market.

It is for the executive who needs to see around corners. It is for the owner who built something strong and wants the next chapter to be even stronger. It is for the next-generation leader trying to modernize without disrespecting what made the business great. It is for the expert who has real knowledge and deserves a stronger platform. It is for the companies that want to be seen, known, trusted, and chosen.

Grit Guide is also for the people who believe this industry deserves better storytelling, better education, better visibility, and better tools. The building industry is full of people doing important work that most of the world never sees. Grit Guide was built to change that.

It gives the industry a place to learn, search, watch, listen, share expertise, build authority, and stay ready for what comes next. One place for the people who build the world behind the walls, windows, doors, yards, showrooms, warehouses, jobsites, and businesses that keep this industry moving.
Why is it called Grit Guide? +
Grit Guide is called Grit Guide because it was built to be the trusted home base the building industry never had. Grit represents the people who built this industry through hard work, skill, service, problem-solving, and real-world experience. Guide represents the mission: to help those people learn the work, find trusted voices, search real answers, and understand what is changing next.

This industry was not built by theory. It was built by people who show up early, solve hard problems, carry real responsibility, serve customers, learn by doing, and keep going when the work gets heavy. That is the grit.

But coming up in this industry, there was no one place to learn the work. Not one trusted place for the product knowledge. The numbers. The sales. The systems. The operations. The leadership lessons. The real decisions that shape a business, a career, a customer relationship, or a jobsite outcome.

Most people learned by asking around. A rep usually knew their own brand. A coworker knew what they had been taught. An industry veteran had years of experience, but not always the current answer. Some people would not admit they did not know. Some had been doing it wrong for years and had no idea. And when the answer was wrong, the wrong answer became your problem.

So a lot of people learned the hard way. After the bad quote. After the wrong order. After the missed margin. After the jobsite issue. After it cost time, money, trust, or all three.

That is why the word Guide matters. Grit Guide exists to help the building industry learn faster, think bigger, find better answers, and prepare for what comes next.

Read it. Watch it. Listen to it. Search it. One trusted place for the people building the future of the building industry.
How is Grit Guide different from a trade publication? +
Trade media tells you what happened. Grit Guide tells you what to do about it. Not a news outlet. Not a press release factory. Not a directory. Not a closed club. We teach the work, tell the stories the industry doesn’t tell about itself, and give the best people in it a place to be seen, learned from, and chosen.
What does Grit Guide teach? +
Grit Guide teaches the two halves of every operator’s life in the building industry: the work itself, and how to be known for it. Both halves are essential. Visibility gets you chosen. Ability keeps you chosen. You need both to win.

The work.

Product knowledge. Windows, doors, millwork, lumber, hardware, building materials. The technical details, component nuances, and day-to-day know-how to sell, spec, install, and stand behind what you put your name on. So a sizing or detail mistake never costs your customer thousands.

Sales. How to actually close, not just stay busy. Hold your margin without losing the customer. Win on value, not price. Premium positioning, lead follow-up, customer experience, sales team performance.

Numbers. Margins, cash flow, GPM, EBITDA. The numbers that decide if a business is healthy, and the ones a buyer or a bank actually reads.

Customer service. How to keep the customer who is about to leave for someone cheaper, and how to turn a complaint into a longer relationship.

Operations. Cleaner process, less wasted motion, fewer broken handoffs. The operational moves nobody trained you on, that quietly save the week.

The channel. How dealers, distributors, manufacturers, and contractors actually work together and against each other. Where the leverage really sits and which shifts to see coming.

Leadership. How to lead a team that is watching every move you make. Hard conversations. Hiring well. Letting go when you have to. Building culture on purpose.

Marketing. How to market without sounding like everyone else. Positioning, messaging, the story your buyer remembers.

Visibility. How to be found by the buyer already searching for what you do. AI search, Google, social, trade press, conferences.

AI and tech. AI, ERPs, CRMs, CPQs, configurators, quoting and ordering systems. What is actually worth adopting and how to use it before your competition does.

Authority building. How to become the name people quote, recommend, and bring up first.

Career. Career growth, family business, succession. When to leave, when to stay, when to push for the raise.

Entrepreneurship. Starting your own thing. Building, scaling, betting on yourself. Knowing when to walk and when to dig in.

Being known for the work.

The room. How to walk into the meeting like you belong in it before anyone in there has heard of you.

All of it taught clearly. All of it in one place. The one you can read it on a Tuesday night and find again on a Friday morning when you need it.

The people behind it

Who created Grit Guide? +
Stefanie Couch leads the editorial. She is the founder of Grit Blueprint and Grit Guide, a third generation building industry insider, and the voice setting the standard for what gets published.

Ben Couch is co-founder of Grit Blueprint, Stefanie’s husband, and the operational engine behind every piece of work that ships. Ben runs the production side of the company, building and leading the studio, content, video, and systems teams. A skilled photographer, videographer, editor, and operator, he is the reason Grit Guide actually publishes on time, looks the way it does, and runs at the pace it does. Behind The Build, Pink Hat Takes, and the day-to-day of Grit Studios all run through Ben.

The Grit Blueprint team of operators, editors, producers, designers, and writers builds the work behind every piece. Featured Experts from across the industry contribute under the same editorial standard. Every piece carries a real byline. Based in Clayton, Georgia.
Who is Stefanie Couch? +
Stefanie Couch is the founder of Grit Blueprint and Grit Guide. A third generation building industry leader, speaker, podcast host, media strategist, and brand and visibility partner for the best companies, executives, and experts in the building materials world.

She helps the people and businesses in this industry become the unmistakable first choice in their market through brand strategy, executive authority, AI-search readiness, media, websites, and growth.

Stefanie is also the host of The Grit Blueprint Podcast, Pink Hat Takes, and Behind the Build, a regular speaker at industry events including IBS, NAWLA, GlassBuild, the National Hardware Show, Do it Best, WMA, True Value, and the ESOP Association, and speaks regularly at conferences, summits, and corporate events outside the building industry as well. She is also the editorial voice behind Grit Guide.

She is known for her pink hat, her plain-language take on what is actually changing in the building industry, and her belief that the best people doing the work deserve a stronger platform.

Based in Clayton, Georgia. Co-founder, with her husband Ben Couch, of Grit Blueprint.
What background does Stefanie Couch have? +
Stefanie Couch has spent her life inside the building industry.

She grew up in a family-owned hardware and lumber business, where she learned the industry from the ground up. The counter. The yard. The customers. The vendors. The product questions. The daily pressure of running a business people count on.

She later moved into Fortune 500 millwork distribution, where she worked across sales, operations, growth, and market development. She helped launch and scale door shop and millwork operations, worked closely with dealers, distributors, manufacturers, builders, sales teams, and leadership groups, and gained a deep understanding of how products, people, and decisions move through the channel.

That background gives her a rare view of the industry. She understands the manufacturer trying to earn dealer loyalty. The distributor trying to support sales teams and grow market share. The dealer trying to win with builders, remodelers, and homeowners. The executive trying to lead through change. The next-generation leader trying to modernize without losing what made the business strong. The expert, sales leader, founder, or operator who has real value to share but needs a stronger platform to be seen, known, and trusted.

After years inside the industry, Stefanie founded Grit Blueprint to help industry leaders and standout companies turn trust into growth. Today, she works with building industry businesses, executives, founders, sales leaders, and experts who want to become the unmistakable first choice in their market. Her work sits at the intersection of brand strategy, media, websites, AI-search readiness, executive authority, sales enablement, and growth.

She is known for helping people and companies say what they really do, show up with more authority, and build the kind of presence that earns attention, trust, and opportunity.

Stefanie is also a speaker, podcast host, media strategist, and founder of Grit Guide, an industry media and intelligence platform built to spotlight the people, companies, and ideas shaping the future of the building industry. Through The Grit Blueprint Podcast, Behind the Build, live event media, executive interviews, industry storytelling, and speaking engagements, Stefanie is one of the voices pushing the building industry to think bigger about brand, visibility, leadership, AI, media, and growth.

What makes her background different is the combination of lived industry experience, modern growth strategy, and real media execution. She understands the relationship-driven industry that built the building materials channel. She also understands the media, technology, AI, search behavior, and buyer shifts that are changing how companies and leaders get found, trusted, remembered, and chosen.

That is why Stefanie often describes herself as a translator between old world success and new world reality. She helps the best people and businesses in the building industry protect what made them trusted, build what makes them relevant, and become unmistakable in the market they are meant to lead.
Who is Ben Couch? +
Ben Couch is the co-founder of Grit Blueprint and one of the key builders behind the media, AI, technology, and operations that power Grit Guide. His work helps make Grit Guide more than a content site. It is built to be a media and intelligence platform where the building industry can read, watch, listen, search, and find useful knowledge when it needs it.

Ben brings a rare mix of experience to the platform. Before Grit Blueprint, he spent nearly 15 years in law enforcement, including work as a special agent and investigator. That background shaped how he thinks. He knows how to ask better questions, follow details, study patterns, solve complex problems, and organize information so it can lead to action.

He later worked in tech sales for a managed service provider, where he gained hands-on experience with business technology, customer needs, digital systems, and practical solutions that help companies work better.

Ben also worked inside the building industry as a salesperson for a high-volume lumber yard in Dallas, Texas. That gave him firsthand experience with the pace, pressure, product questions, customer expectations, jobsite demands, and daily problem-solving that happen inside the lumber and building materials world.

That combination matters. Ben understands technology, but he is not building tools from the outside looking in. He has worked inside the industry. He understands the people, the pressure, the sales process, and the need for systems that actually help real people do real work.

Today, Ben helps lead the technical and media engine behind Grit Guide.

On the media side, he supports filming, production, camera systems, audio, lighting, shoot logistics, podcast setup, event media, company features, product stories, and Behind the Build content.

On the technology and AI side, he helps build and support the systems that make Grit Guide easier to search, use, scale, and grow. That includes AI tools, technical workflows, media systems, platform operations, and the back-end structure that helps organize industry knowledge. His role sits at the intersection of media, technology, AI, investigation, operations, sales, and building industry experience.

That is important because Grit Guide is not just trying to publish more content. It is built to capture the knowledge this industry runs on. The product knowledge. The sales lessons. The field experience. The company stories. The expert insight. The leadership lessons. The details that usually live in someone’s head, in a sales call, on a jobsite, at a trade show, or inside a company that has been doing the work for decades.

Ben helps build the systems that make that knowledge easier to capture, easier to understand, easier to search, and easier to put to work.

Together, Ben and Stefanie Couch bring two sides of the Grit Guide vision to life: deep industry strategy, strong storytelling, practical media, AI, and technology built for the real world. Ben helps make sure the building industry’s best stories, smartest answers, and most useful knowledge do not stay hidden. They become easier to find, trust, and use.

It is built to spotlight the people, companies, stories, ideas, products, and shifts shaping the future of the building industry.

The connection is simple. Grit Blueprint builds visibility and growth systems. Grit Guide is one of the platforms where that visibility, leadership, and industry storytelling come to life.

Through Grit Guide, readers can find expert insights, company stories, product education, interviews, video series, editorial features, leadership content, and practical resources created for the building materials world. That may include dealers, distributors, manufacturers, builders, remodelers, sales leaders, executives, next-generation leaders, and industry experts.

Grit Guide is powered by Grit Blueprint’s industry knowledge, media experience, and belief that this industry needs a stronger platform for the people doing real work.

But Grit Guide also has its own editorial standard. The purpose of Grit Guide is not to sell attention to the highest bidder. The purpose is to raise the standard for how the building industry tells its stories, shares knowledge, builds authority, and prepares for what is next.

Sponsors and partners may support Grit Guide, but they do not control the story. Editorial integrity is the standard. The standard never bends for a sponsor.

That means Grit Guide may feature clients, partners, sponsors, experts, and companies we respect, but inclusion is based on relevance, value, quality, and trust. Not pressure. Not payment. Not favoritism.

Grit Blueprint and Grit Guide work together, but they are not the same thing. Grit Blueprint is the company that helps clients build stronger brands, stronger visibility, stronger media, and stronger growth systems. Grit Guide is the media and intelligence platform built to inform, spotlight, and serve the building industry.

Together, they support the same mission: help the best people and companies in the building industry be seen, be known, be chosen, and become unmistakable.

Is Grit Guide free? +
Yes. Free to read, watch, listen to, and share. The newsletter is free to subscribe to. Sponsors may support the platform, but they do not control the story. The standard never bends.
How often does it publish? +
New work every week. No off weeks. Articles, podcast episodes, videos, and field reports publish across the week. The weekly digest lands every week, the fastest way to never miss what matters.
How can I contribute or be featured? +
There are a few ways to contribute to Grit Guide. Every path is reviewed against the same editorial standard.

Featured Expert. Featured Experts are leaders, operators, and specialists whose work shapes the building industry. They are nominated by others, and they can also nominate themselves. The expert page is an authority page, not a listing. You earn it by being worth learning from. Featured Experts contribute writing, video, interviews, and microsite work under the same editorial standard as anything Stefanie publishes.

Regular Contributor. You do not have to be a Featured Expert to contribute. If you have a strong point of view on a topic this industry needs to hear, you can apply to write, record, or contribute as a regular contributor. Articles, op-eds, podcast appearances, video segments, and field reporting all welcome.

Sponsorships and paid content. Companies and brands can also apply to sponsor work or commission paid content, such as a Behind the Build episode, a product feature, an event recap, a category sponsorship, or a custom video. Paid content is always clearly labeled, and inclusion is based on relevance, value, quality, and trust. Sponsors may support the platform, but they do not control the story. The standard never bends.

However you contribute, the path starts the same way: subscribe to Grit Guide, get familiar with the editorial standard, and reach out through the contact page.
